Audrey Alberts
Audrey Alberts developed her design practice
collaborating with noted clients and architects. After completing
her Interior Design studies at the Art Institute of Chicago,
she received a thorough grounding in textile technology and
palette development at Jack Lenor Larsen, in Chicago. As a
junior designer for a prestigious residential design studio,
Audrey was exposed to the sensitive integration of both antiques
and classic contemporary furniture into beautifully composed
interiors.
On moving to Los Angeles, Audrey designed exclusive retail
shops. Eager to work on larger projects in association with
an architectural firm, Audrey joined William Pereira Associates,
where she collaborated with architects and designers on major
projects, including the Doha Hotel Conference Center in Doha,
Qatar and the American Airlines headquarters in Fort Worth,
Texas. In 1981 Ms. Alberts assumed a senior position with
Kaneko/Laff Associates as a color, materials and furnishings
designer for ARCO Corporation projects. Audrey worked closely
with ARCO's Director of Design Herbert Bayer, a former member
of the Bauhaus.
Since starting her own firm in 1986, Audrey has developed
a wide-ranging list of residential, commercial and institutional
clients. The studio has completed interior design work on
civic centers, corporate facilities and university libraries.
A number of principals from these corporate client firms have
requested the services of Audrey
Alberts Design (AAD) for their own private residences
and vacation homes, and have become repeat clients over the
years.
Residential projects have become a primary focus for AAD.
Close collaboration with clients, architects, landscape architects,
lighting designers and contractors allows us to achieve seamlessly
integrated design solutions. Accordingly, the opportunity
to provide highly personalized interior design for private
residential clients is particularly rewarding for the firm.
AAD employs a dedicated staff of
design professionals with wide-ranging and thorough experience.
As a result, the studio has developed comprehensive project
management skills, -- such as scheduling, coordinating, purchasing
and installation -- allowing for a high level of teamwork
and creative collaboration. The work of the studio is a direct
reflection of those efforts coalescing with the deliberate
consideration that AAD gives to
site, architecture and the individual design concerns of each
client.
